Denzel Washington has always been one of my favorite actors to watch and I was pleased to hear that he would have a new movie come out toward the end of the year. Honestly, he could probably just be on screen and read off of the Yellow Pages for two hours and I’d be happy to see him. But after watching the trailer for his latest film Flight, I became all the more anxious for this one to open so I could check it out.
Oscar-winning director Robert Zemeckis (Forrest Gump) makes a return to live-action dramatic films to direct Washington in Flight, which centers on an airline pilot who saves a plane from crashing but who soon enough is called into question. The film also stars John Goodman, Melissa Leo, and Don Cheadle (reuniting with Washington for the first time since 1995’s Devil in a Blue Dress).
Although I do enjoy Washington’s films no matter what they may be about or their genre, I will always prefer when he gets to show off his more dramatic chops (in films like The Hurricane or Courage Under Fire, for example), and Flight looks to be Denzel at his dramatic best.
The film is not yet rated and is scheduled for U.S. release on November 2.
A commercial-airline pilot saves a flight from crashing, but an investigation into the malfunctions reveals something troubling.
